Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. While there isn’t a special occasion, sometimes, just sometimes a weekend is filled with some good parties that make you forget about the weekly woes by pleasuring your ears. This weekend happens to be exactly that.
Friday: Jovonn, Point G and more @ Claire
Claire is active and in full effect. On Friday they’ve invited house legend Jovonn to spin his signature (New) Jersey house sound. That vocal-backed and soulful house (see below) makes the hair on the back of my neck stand up, and I guarantee it’ll do the same to you. The pioneer is accompanied by Point G, D-Ribeiro and Aurelius, who plays either house records from my entire music library or stuff I need to have. Every damn time. The second room houses Brighter Days’ KAMMA and MASALO, a dynamic duo whom ensure festive vibes through their diverse track selection.
Saturday: NooFilter @ Canvas
Whether you’re listening music via Spotify or YouTube, or if you still download it, there’s always a filter present, unwillingly causing you to miss out on some sweet tunes. NooFilter removes that filter for you this Saturday, with Mike Risk and Prunk as the guys on duty. What I mentioned about Aurelius, goes for Mike Risk as well. The sound he emulates is really euphoric house, which you cannot dislike. And to add a bit more deeper vibes, Prunk is ready to take that on. Grab your ticks here.
Saturday: Kommune @ OT301
Kommune is back with more quality control. This time they have another DJ premiering in Amsterdam: Skee Mask. A young dude with a notorious past, musically speaking, of making noise with his boys. Nowadays he likes to stay a bit more unidentified, letting the music he produces and plays speak for itself. Skee Mask provides the necessary dreaminess, with wide ambient soundscapes underlined by raw dub-techno grooves.
Saturday: DJ Deeon @ Sugarfactory
If booty boppin’ beats and cheesy innuendo implicating lyrics are more your thing, then definitely head down to the Sugarfactory on Saturday. Katnip is bringing dance maniac DJ Deeon to the decks! The raunchiness of ghetto house does something special to people, it releases their inner freak. Take a look for yourself here. And if that isn’t convincing enough, Deeon’s set below will get you in the mood for sure.
