About the author
I’ve been a music hoarder all my life and it was I who coined the phrase: ‘Every genre has something to offer’ (patent pending). My main infatuations are House, Disco, Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop and every subgenre in between. As long as the tunes spark up a euphoric feeling. Writing about Music expresses my passion for the art.

New name, same concept. Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to make it worth your damn hangover.

Wednesday: Superfunk Session #16 @ Nowhere

Wanna start off your weekend a little early? In light of the Dutch proverb ‘Breek De Week’ (split the week), this Wednesday is a great opportunity to complice to the proverb. Leroy Rey will be spinning some funk, soul, disco and everything in between at Nowhere.

Thursday/Friday: Jazzanova @ North Sea Jazz Club

Berlin-based collective Jazzanova has been in the game for quite some time, and they emulate some of my personal favorite genres, ranging from acid jazz and nu-jazz to more downtempo and soulful house. This Thursday and Friday the band will be taking over the North Sea Jazz Club, performing a blend of the previously mentioned genres.

Friday: Samo, Cinnaman & Orpheu the Wizard @ De School

Also on Friday is De School, bringing the top shelf of the contemporary dance scene to Amsterdam, as always. This time is no different, with Samo, Cinnaman and Orpheu the Wizard providing electronic ecstatic tunes. As most studies are already a couple of weeks in, it might be a good idea to head down to De School for some late night (music) studying, while leaving your books at home.

Saturday: Bam Boe invites Jimpster @ Sugarfactory

Bam Boe has been steadily bringing dope DJs to Amsterdam for quite some time now. This Saturday they’re doing it yet again, inviting Jimpster to the Sugarfactory. He’s been trying (and succeeding) in matching and raising the bar for authentic house, holding it down for real deep house music, not that poppy bullsh*t Spotify calls deep house nowadays.
