About the author
I’ve been a music hoarder all my life and it was I who coined the phrase: ‘Every genre has something to offer’ (patent pending). My main infatuations are House, Disco, Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop and every subgenre in between. As long as the tunes spark up a euphoric feeling. Writing about Music expresses my passion for the art.

New name, same concept. Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to make it worth your damn hangover.

Thursday: Hypnotic Brass Ensemble @ North Sea Jazz Club

The combination of multiple trumpets and trombones creates such an rich sound, it warms me up. A pulsing horn riff makes my own pulse go faster. Exactly this is what happens when I listen to the Hypnotic Brass Ensemble. The eight brothers, also dubbed The Badboys of Jazz, have played together with big artists like Prince, Erykah Badu and De La Soul. The ensemble always knows how to energize the crowd through their diverse music. Expect the tunes to be in between the wide range of funk, hip-hop, jazz, Caribbean and afro. Grab your tickets here.

Friday: Rahaan @ Chicago Social Club

An event organization called House Legends?! Now that’s music to my ears! In the past they’ve invited honorary house heads like Joe Smooth, Paul Johnson, DJ Pierre and Robert Owens. This time you’re granted to see well respected legend Rahaan provide the jams all night long. This man has been in the game since the ’80s (in Chicago), turning disco into house and spinning it right back to disco again. It’s really great to have him here on a regular basis, because someone with such a reputation raises alive the quality of the Amsterdam nightlife.

Saturday: Welcome To The Future @ Het Twiske

Welcome to the Future is not an unfamiliar name around festival goers. This year WTTF celebrates its 10th anniversary with the same formula they have been succesful with: an amazing all-star line up, Function-One’s on all stages, nice decoration and as always Het Twiske as the beautiful location. If you don’t already have a ticket, you might still have a change if you keep an eye on Ticketswap.
