About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Thursday: LET Me In with Deniro @ Cruquiusgilde

Of course LET is known for their brilliant residents JP Enfant, Carlos Valdes and Viktor Palmer. They recently added Deniro to the LET crew as well. You might know him as the founder of Tape Records and from his releases on Nina Kraviz her label трип (pronounces as ‘trip’). This guy’s on fire and his warm techno sound is to drool over. To celebrate their brand new resident LET invited him to do an all-nighter in the lovely Cruquiusgilde. If you’re celebrating freedom somewhere at Vrijland or another Festival today, be sure to come and celebrate some more tonight. The worst is yet to come!

Friday: Lena Willikens + Interstellar Funk @ De School

Lena Willikens has been one of my favorite artists for a while. I discovered her on Lentekabinet last year. While everybody fell in love with The Black Madonna on the DJBroadcast stage (so did I by the way), little did they know that a few hours earlier Lena Willikens was rocking that same stage and made the few people that were there early enough dance so hard they literally broke down the stage. Her ‘obscure proto-techno, jacking spirits, industrial boogie, synthesized disco, raw house and other outernational rhythms’ are golden. Go check her (and Interstellar Funk) out this Friday!

Saturday: TRIPPIN JAGUAR & ESA + Ninye Bun @ Canvas

Let me sketch you a perfect Saturday night. Start off with a cocktail at the beautiful Canvas terrace. When it starts to get chilly outside you move inside to have dinner and more cocktails. Then, when you’re tipsy enough, release your inner soul to the subconscious sounds of Trippin Jaguar and Esa. In celebration of their new release on morgen.am they will provide you with the perfect musical trip. Get into the psychedelic tropical vibes and have a shot or two. You’ll wake up reborn the next day full of energy and creativity (and a hangover), trust me.

Check out legendary Is Burning as well, as it’s their two-year anniversary. It’s sold out but there are still some tickets at the door.
