The Nomads tribe settles once more with their festival

About the author
I’ve been a music hoarder all my life and it was I who coined the phrase: ‘Every genre has something to offer’ (patent pending). My main infatuations are House, Disco, Jazz, Funk, Hip Hop and every subgenre in between. As long as the tunes spark up a euphoric feeling. Writing about Music expresses my passion for the art.

Last week Nomads Festival released the line-up for its fourth edition. This time the festival will appropriately have four stages, showing their expansion and rising popularity. More DJs, more music and an increased tribe, as the audience is dubbed, provide for a delightful day in the oasis. One that shouldn’t be missed!

Grab yourself a mask and join the tribe.

The tribe’s vibe is what defines Nomads, and taking them on a nomadic trip accompanied by a musical journey is what the day is about. I’ll never forget how Kerri Chandler serenaded the tribe’s ears and made me (metaphorically) climax two years ago. In the passing years some house and techno heavy hitters have played the Nomads crowd; from Marshall Jefferson and Chez Damier to Robert Owens, DJ Deep, Karizma and devine disco deliverer Sadar Bahar. The after movie of last year’s edition gives a lil’ insight on what a sun-drenched day in the oasis feels like – and damn, it felt good.

Needless to say, this year the tribe will see yet another great line-up, divided over four stages:

Kriss Kross Area

The guys from Kris Kross always know how to throw a party, hyping up the crowd with hits from the past. You can walk in their circus tent and always expect a singalong or dance classic. This blend seems to be the perfect formula, as the tent always packed. Kris Kross specially selected Naffz, David Ghetto, Alamaison, Walter Looks, CMC$, Dabutes and Dennis Branko to play their tent.

The Stage of Spirits

The Stage of Spirits homes the spirit of music, consisting all types of dance music: funk, disco, techno and house. Dekmantel Soundsystem will make their long-awaited arrival, joining the Nomads. With them Nick V, Carlos Valdes and Titia join forces on a b2b2b set to bring a musical offer to the spirit of music. House-head Tijn Benedek provides the stage with a fresh selection of his taste. And to top it off Moomin grooves things up, not only pleasing the spirit of music but surely the spirits of all tribe members as well.

Lumberjacks in Hell

Record label Lumberjacks in Hell hosts an own stage this year, starring label owner Marcel Vogel, Mr. Mendel, Rahaan (also a dope disco dude) & Red Greg. The gang offers a fresh selection and their own take on what music means to them. You can expect a lot of disco-influenced house, or is it the other way around?

The Oasis

Last but most certainly not least, The Oasis provides top shelf house & techno. Chicago-based Robert Owens and Chez Damier will return once with the Windy City sound. The remarkable allrounder Mike Huckaby will descend to deliver the tribe the perfect blend of Detroit house. Huckaby has always has been an active member of the electronic dance culture, whether it be by spinning tracks, producing bangers, or sharing his knowledge by teaching others.

And, as always, the Dutch techno & house scene is represented as well. This time best buds Jasper Wolff & Maarten Mittendorf tech things up. The boys from just edits L’Atelier & Ghetto Chords push their backs together, covering and delivering the soulful sound.

Nomads knows how to perfectly combine different aspects of what makes up a fantastic festival, and deliver them back to their fellow Nomads as one great day. The vibe, the properly themed decorations, like tipis and Nomadic market stands where hippy-esque stuff can be bought, the stages and off course the Nomads themselves. Take into account the heat of the sunny day in June and you’d almost think you’re really on a Nomadic trip. So grab yourself a mask and join the tribe this summer!
