About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: ECHO @ Cruquiusgilde

Let me present you to the newest dub-techno night in town. I absolutely LOVE this genre of techno and I feel as if it has been unrepresented a little bit in our city. So obviously I’m pretty damn pleased ECHO has been brought to life. With an amazing line-up of local heroes that know how to treat you right, this will be a night to remember. Carlos Valdes, JP Enfant, RMFK (I was at the recording below, trust me, you want to see this guy live), !nertia, Pep and ECHO won’t disappoint you. And all of this is happening in the most cozy and sexy warehouse around, Cruquiusgilde.

Friday: Mood x Fade Black @ Radion

Let me tell you a little secret that isn’t so secret. I’m a big Route 8 fan girl. Every chance I get to see him play, I gladly take. When he had his first gig in Amsterdam at OT301 I felt like a kid in a candy store. I love his emotive dreamscape house and heady techno. I’m listening to This Raw Feeling, an EP he released on Lobster Theremin with beautiful blue vinyl to match, as I am writing this. The fact that Nick Anthony Simoncino, Marco Shuttle, Nuel, Jaime Frias, Mark Antoni,Joris Zwetsloot and Ben Fairy are on the bill this Friday in Radion as well makes it even better.

Friday: Hotel Tropique @ Canvas

Are you feeling a little grey (not the 50 shades kind) and could use a pick-me-up? So could I. Philou Louzolo has got wat you need. His music could best be described as a mixture between sweet melodies of the vast African continent and contemporary cutting-edge house. Philou has invited mister Tropical UK: Hugo Mendez. He has an unique bled of African, Caribbean and Latin rhythms combined with dubplate edits and a contemporary club slant. Expect a long night with high temperatures and an abundant liquor flow. Time to get exotic and shake that booty.
