About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Motiv @ Cruquiusgilde

Some people might say this line-up is too difficult. I say it’s damn interesting. We need more parties like these. Mirella Kroes’ new concept Motiv launched during ADE last year. It was intimate, dark, deep and hard, without being flat or losing the ability to make you move your hips. This edition Mirella invited Tripeo and Korridor. Last Saturday reminded me how great Cruquiusgilde is. Can’t wait to go there again this weekend.

Saturday: Tribes @ Canvas

On Saturday Berlin and Amsterdam-based shamans unite in Canvas to build a tribe. German Marcel Freigeist, the Dutch duo UNISOL you need to watch (mark my words) and resident duo Tribesmen will guide you through the night as musical spiritual gurus. Expect rhythm, sexiness, a killer view and killer cocktails from the Canvas bar. Time to shake your ass and do something naughty.

Aurora Halal & JP Enfant @ De School

Listen to this EP from Aurora Halal and I shouldn’t have to tell you why you should be in De School this Saturday. JP Enfant literally tore down Cruquiusgilde during his all-nighter last week. He played a lot of my favorite records and even played some Nirvana at the end. This guy is on fire so be sure to check out his set as well!
