Studio 80 was one of the first clubs I ever danced so I’ll always have a weak spot for the intimate dark and cozy club. It truly is a bright spot in the Rembrandtplein area filled with terrible touristic bars with bad music, especially with the new team that really brought the club back to life this year with some of the most interesting line-ups of the city. Like everyone else, I was taken off guard by the sad news that Stutterheim sold Studio 80. The club will close its doors as we know it in January. When the horrible news was announced the club only had one month left for a worthy goodbye, which is extremely short, but they did me proud. Time flies because it’s already time for your last chance to dance at Studio 80. And dance we will. Like there’s no tomorrow!
Tonight: STUDIO 80’S NYE
One thing is for sure, you know you want to be at a special place at midnight when the new year starts. I highly recommend Studio 80 for this, because you know good vibes and great music are guaranteed. The club arranged bubbles and some special extras as well (how mysterious). On the decks there’s a wide variety of DJs, all known for being some of the best selectors around. Expect house, obscure disco, wave and those weirdo records that just can not be placed into one genre from Interstellar Funk, Phuong-Dan, Young Marco and Zaltan Antinote in Studio 1. Studio 2 will be the domain of the Norwegian connoisseur Skatebård. Let’s start 2016 with a bang people!
Tomorrow: LAST CHANCE TO DANCE!
On the first day of the new year it will be your very last chance to dance in Studio 80 as we know it. As Studio 80’s previous navigator Gert used to say about the vibe of Studio 80; “You can check out any time you like, but you can never leave”. Starting at 16:00 Studio 80 and Get On Down (the queer-minded party of the club) are presenting you with a crazy ass marathon of 16 hours long, ending at 08:00 the next day. Andy Butler, Bambounou, Casper Tielrooij, De Dupe, Dollkraut, Lupe, Mayo, Nick Höppner, Robert Bergman, TITIA and Victor Coral will provide you with the last tunes. For Studio 80’s last day & night it’s time to expect the unexpected and include the excluded, ’cause everyone with an open mind is welcome to get on down one last time.
