Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: Full Pup @ Closure
Prins Thomas is performing all night long baby. The king of space disco never fails to amaze me, whether it’s in De Natte Cel in Trouw or b2b with Gerd Janson at Woodstock. His music makes me happy every time I hear it and it’s perfect to boogie on. I can’t wait for Friday because he will have the entire night, giving him the chance to really build a musical story with his set. My advice? Escape the rain by dancing in Closure!
Friday: PRISMA @ Studio 80
When I heard Studio 80 is closing its doors in January I was incredibly sad. The new team really brought the dark but intimate club back to life this year. They rebuilt the place and their programming was one of the most progressive and interesting of our town. A club with a lovely family and an eye for talent will be lost. That being sad, we need to enjoy it while we still can! PRISMA is definitely a good moment to do so, if you’re into the futuristic, complex, artistic, deeper side of techno, that is. With COMA, Applescal, Arjuna Schiks, Some Chemistry, Olaf Stuut, Pieter Jansen, Florinsz Janvier and UNISOL you know it can’t go wrong.
Sunday: Slowmotion Club @ Radion
This one is going to be slow and sexy. People who love the Karl Kutter and Bachstelzen stages at Fusion or hang out in Berlin’s Katerblau on Monday will to want to be in Radion. I had the pleasure of experiencing both and it was really something special. Expect music that is as slow as a slug, intensifying the whole experience. I saw Sutsche in Cruquiusgilde once and I suggest you take the chance t check this out!
