About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: XXX @ Closure

This Friday it’s time to boogie in space. And yes, I’m talking about Closure. Disco-minded duo SHMLSS has already invited some pretty impressive artists at their XXX label parties, such as Tuff City Kids (Lauer and Gerd Janson), Prins Thomas and Soul Clap. This time they really invited a legend though. I am very excited about the fact they brought Andrew Weatherhall. Have a listen to this podcast guys, it’s pretty damn cool.

Saturday: Kommune @ OT301

Route 8 is coming to Amsterdam for the first time!!!! I never use this much exclamation marks which means I’m crazy excited about this one. Kommune delivers a really good vibe every time I’m there, whether it’s in Cruquisgilde or in Ruigoord. This time curator Nathan Surreal (who supposedly gets blowjobs while playing) invited one of my favorite producers to one of my favorite venues of the city. As KAAP (who’s opening the night) puts it; Route 8’s Sunrise In Her Eyes, released on the amazing Lobster Theremin, could be called the Deep Burnt of this decade. Goosebumps all over every time I hear it. Can’t wait for Saturday!

Saturday: Rauw @ Radion

I fell in love with electronic music for the first time at his Rauw parties over seven years ago. I was into electro big time and loved artists such as Boys Noize. The man who’s behind it, Dutch legend Joost Van Bellen, has been performing for 30 years now, which is pretty damn impressive. So obviously this calls for a celebration. Timetable? 23:00–01:30 Joost van Bellen, 01:30–03:03 Joost van Bellen, 03:03–04:20 Joost van Bellen, 04:20–05:55 Joost van Bellen, 05:55–07:00 Joost van Bellen.

You can always decide to check out Tomorrow Is Now, Kid! in Studio 80 (while you still have the chance), Giegling in Closure (Giegling is always a good decision), Âme and Job Jobse in De Marktkantine or Redevice in Cruquiusgilde. Damn, so many good parties this weekend.
