About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Hoppa @ Westerliefde

Hoppa has been providing our town with an intimate atmosphere and a brilliant light show since August. And let’s not forget about the quality music. For their third edition they invited Dutchie Paul Cairo, Meat Katie, Calle Wersäll and Dawid Dahl. With this deep dark techno from Sweden and the UK it will be a new morning before you know it. This one is perfect for those who are tired of massive parties but long for some coziness.

Friday: Pixel @ Studio 80

Jorn Liefdeshuis’ party Pixel has been one of my favorites in town since Trouw. After the music stopped Studio 80 became the new Pixel home and it suits really well. This Friday Jorn has invited Studio Barnhus to play all night long which means that Axel Boman (who has a nice ass), Kornél Kovács and Petter Nordkvist will create some madness. Jorn himself is performing in Studio 2. Every time I end up in Studio 80 things just seem to escalate, in a good way, so I can’t wait.

Friday: Hotel Tropique @ Canvas

Did you know that Canvas has residents? The club with the amazing view is creating a true musical direction and we’re loving it. Philou Louzolo is one of the new residents and his club night is called Hotel Tropique. Philou plays tropical African house music that he calls Afrifuturism and his record choice is pretty damn impressive. Radio Noet-Noet is invited to play this Friday as well. Expect a long night with high temperatures and liquor that flows in abundance.

Of course two other good options are Georgie’s Wintergarten and Is Burning. They are sold out but you might find a way with Ticketswap. Georgie’s after, however, isn’t!
