Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Saturday: OWN THE NIGHT @ Canvas
I know, I know, ADE was last week and you’re tired as well. You know what? I don’t care and neither should you, because this party is going to be ON. The first edition, a couple of months ago, was supposed to be a one-off deal, but left Canvas (and us) craving for more. This party is for those who feel the need to roughen things up a little bit. Intergalactic Gary, Paul du Lac and Job Sifre will provide you with tunes. Time to dress up, strip down and let sexy things happen. No limits, just your imagination and a crazy crowd. Oh, and there will be no surveillance…
Saturday: Sekoia @ Closure
You probably know Utrecht-based Sekoia from their exquisite taste in deep electronic music. This summer they invited queen Jennifer Cardini to play in Closure and this Saturday they’re going even deeper by dipping their toes into techno. They invited my hero Etapp Kyle, king of dreamy techno. I’ll take any chance to see him play (he’s pretty nice to look at) and his EP on Klockworks is on my record player as I’m writing this. Conforce and Sekoia resident Vela Uniform are on the bill as well. Is it Saturday yet?
Saturday: ItaloJohnson all night long @ Studio 80
Nobody knows who the mysterious guys from ItaloJohnson are. I love me some mystery. What I do know is that they blew me away in Trouw and at Buiten Westen this summer. Have a listen to this podcast and be ready to have your world rocked. They are playing all night long in Studio 80 this Saturday. This club has been rocking ever since they rebuilt the place. I love long sets because it gives artists an opportunity to take the time and really tell a story. Can’t wait what these guys are going to do!
