About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Amsterdam Dance Event is my favorite sleepless week of the year. I’ve been going there since I was 15 and will try to go there until the end of time. It is also a week of great dilemmas. 80 venues and over 2000 artists are participating. How the hell do you choose between all those amazing parties? That’s where I come in. Let me tell you where you party people should go to this ADE.

Smallville x The Odd Fantastic @ Canvas

The Black Madonna is booming, and that’s an understatement. After her set at Lente Kabinet people spontaneously started applauding when she was walking on the festival terrain. Since then things went fast and her set in Closure was out of this world. She’s one of those artists that mixes acid, soulful house, techno and everything in between together flawlessly, without sounding like a complete mess but creating beautiful chaos. And she’s an extremely inspiring person who fights for equal rights for woman in dance music as well. I wouldn’t miss her performance in Canvas for anything. This event is sold out but there will be some tickets at the door so be fast!

909: Jeff Mills presents Time Tunnel @ Warehouse 22

Jeff Mills just needs to stop blowing my mind before I can’t take it anymore. This guy should not need an introduction anymore is true is a pioneer in electronic music. Not so long ago he blew my mind by collaboration with the Noord Nederlands Orkest in the lovely Concertgebouw. Hearing The Bell being played by an orchestra is something special people. During ADE he’ll present his Time Tunnel project for the first time in our country. In this unique show Detroit’s magician will take you by the hand and together travel through time. You will hear music from the past, present and future interpreted by the grand master himself.

Delsin x Semantica Records @ Studio 80

Studio 80 is truly entering a new era. The vibe there just keeps improving, the new booth which is a lot closer to the crowd works really well and they just keep on booking interesting artists. Go check it out during ADE if you haven’t been there for a while. They invited Delsin and Semantica Records on Friday and this line-up is to die for. Abdulla Rashim, Delta Funktionen, Doka & SHLTR, Gunnar Haslam, Mattikk, Svreca, Voices From The Lake and Vril are on the bill, creating a techno heaven for connoisseurs.
