Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Mind @ Radion

It’s time for my favorite party in Radion again. Reza Athar has proved he can curate a good party. He invited true selectors with mad skills, highlighting that DJing is in fact a trade. He already invited Prins Thomas, Ivan Smagghe, Erol Alkan and Patrice Baumel in the past, and this Friday it’s Gilb’r from Paris. The history of modern French electronic and dance music would look very different without this man and his label Versatile Records. Listen to this Boiler Room set he did and you’ll get the idea.

Friday: Westkaap @ a secret location

I was looking forward to the last Kaap party in Cruquiusgilde so much but when the moment was finally there I had the flu. Because I missed out last time I’ll have to make up for it by partying for two this edition. This party makes me feel like 17 again, in the best sense. It’s been years since I went to an illegal rave and I can’t wait to act like a nervous teenager again and drink beer on the way while cycling. Tim Hoeben, RMFK (watch this guy!), KAAP, Nathan Surreal and many other local talents will provide you with tunes this night. There’s only room for 100 people and no door sale so be quick!

Saturday: K + Peren @ Studio /K

It’s just a five minute walk from my house to get to Studio /K. I love going there for a drink, a bite to eat or see a movie. This Saturday I’m going there to party though. Female pioneer Isis and one of my favorite Amsterdam based artists Carlos Valdes are playing there. Studio /K turned this party into a mini festival by adding ice-cream, hotdogs, hairdressers and a lot of other madness. And when the party’s over I can just crawl home. Life is good. I’ll worry about the hangover later.

Check out Nachtparade, morph x northern electronics in concert in Cruquiusgilde, Light House in Canvas, Tomorrow Is Now, Kid! in Studio 80 and Cartel in Closure as well.
