About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Zauer Kitchen @ Dok

Zauer Kitchen, the best way to start partying right after work, has changed locations. Daniel Zuur’s musical kitchen is stepping up by leaving the Westergasterras (although I’l miss the XXXXL gin and tonics) for Dok’s lovely city beach. The concept stays the same though; a pre-party with good food and quality music. This time Fusion Festival meets Katermukke, since Daniel has invited Martha van Straaten, Jascha Hagen and URUBU Marinka to perform. I can’t wait.

Saturday: Love Foundation @ Waterhouse

I’ve heard that Waterhouse is the new place to be. This Saturday Trippin Jaguar, Satori, URUBU Marinka and Martha van Straaten are playing there. Did you know that the profit of the event goes to a water project in India? Do note that it is expected of you to be familiar with the concept and that you need to be on the mailing list to be able to attend this party. It’s a family after all. Check out the event for more info.

Saturday: Tanstaafl @ Studio 80

This Saturday Studio 80 has invited Tanstaafl to our town which means that John Osborn & Henning Baer are playing along side Dutchie Stefan Vincent. With Gemini EP, with its deep, emotional tripping sound and analogue rawness in mind, you know this is going to be good. Did you know that Viktor Palmer is turning the second room into Okinawa? Expect him to play trippy stuff such as ambient, field recordings, soundtracks and exotica, together with Ian Martin. See you there!

Did you know that there’s a special benefit party for 50 Cent in Roest this weekend (the poor man seems to be broke, how ironic). Be sure to check out Sunglasses at Night in Closure where Rahaan, San Proper and Reza Athar are playing as well.
