About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Saturday: Festifest @ Noorderlicht

Festifest equals joy and disco in the broadest sense of the word. The pre-party in Canvas with Tornado Wallace was a huge success and I can’t wait for Matias Aguayo, Manamana, Job Jobse, Fantastic Man, SHMLSS and Philou Louzolo to take it to another level this Saturday, if that’s even possible. Manamana and SHMLSS will return for the after party together with Nuno Dos Santos and HAARBAARBAAR. Time to bust some moves.

Saturday: Jean Pierre Enfant invites Luke Hess @ OT301

I’ve been looking forward to this one ever since the guys from LET celebrated the start of their label in Closure last month. This time resident Jean Pierre Enfant has invited Detroit legend Luke Hess to what might be my favorite club in Amsterdam. OT301 is intimate and it feels as if it just as easily be located in Berlin. It’s raw and cozy at the same time. Add JP and Luke to this and you’ve got magic. Check out this amazing exclusive mix Luke made for the occasion for DJBroadcast to get in the mood.

Sunday: Is Burning @ Cruquiusgilde

This one is for the open-minded. Sandrien and Carlos Valdes started the already infamous Is Burning gay parties in Trouw, giving the Amsterdam gay community something else than top40-Reguliersdwars-style. They relocated to Cruquiusgile, which seems the new place to be. Straights are welcome too by the way. Expect old school and new underground music, from house to disco to Chicago house to techno. Daan Groeneveld is playing along side Sandrien and Carlos and there’s a mystery guest as well. Can’t imagine spending my Sunday better.

These Guys, Mystic Garden and The Going are also lovely weekend options people. Go and misbehave.
