Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: Cartel @ Closure
Closure is such a dark place, and I mean that in a good way. This Friday Ostgut Ton’s Nick Höppner and nd_baumecker are playing. If you know these guys you know there’s no other place where you want to be dancing your ass off on Friday. If you don’t, you need to trust me. Your ass will thank me later. To top it all off Sandrien and Carlos Valdes are playing a b2b session as well. Both of these create magic on their own. Put them together and it’s even better. Just listen to this set below. You’ll understand.
Saturday: Once in a Blue Moon @ Cruquiusgilde
Once in a Blue Moon is Next Monday’s Hangover new baby. The NMH boys felt the need to be able to freely experiment. This means they are bringing us unknown artists. Their taste in music is known to be pretty good so expect artists that you will fall in love with after hearing them play. Of course the true connoisseurs among you will already know Sutsche, Ataypura and Trippin Jaguar who are playing in the lovely and intimate Cruquiusgilde this Saturday. Come and play!
Saturday: CHCGO LEGENDS OF HOUSE @ Canvasopde7e
Canvas and Donker Collective are starting a new series where they bring Chicago house legends to our city. Bless them. No one other than Chicago based legend Ron Maney aka DJ Skull will make his Dutch debut. To make it even better house pioneer Orlando Voorn is performing for us as well. They will bring you pure, unadulterated house as it was intended. Time to get nostalgic people. Oh and a little tip: ask the bartenders at Canvas to surprise you. I had a cranberry drink that was inspired by Ryan Gosling last time. Good stuff.
You want to drink gin tonic in Zauer Kitchen at the Westergasterras on Friday. You might not know it yourself, but I do. Be sure to check out MOOD in Cruquiusgilde, Subnight in Radion and ACID TAB in Studio 80 as well.
