About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Kaap A’dam @ Closure

Kaap is my new favorite party. I met so many new people during their previous edition and everyone kept asking if I came alone. Truth is I lost my friends (in the intimate Cruquiusgile that fits about 250 people…) and spent all my time making new ones and dancing my ass off to Massimiliano Pagliara, Carlos Valdes and Reza Athar. This was the first time I experienced a vibe that’s comparable to Trouw. This Friday Kaap returns to Closure. You can understand that I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while. Genius Of Time, Discodromo and Tim Hoeben & Maxi Mill will provide us with tunes this time. Trust me, this is the only place you want to be Friday night.

Saturday: Horizon @ Canvasopde7e

Horizon has been one of my favorite parties from the start. I’ve discovered amazing new artists that Dutch bookers seemed to skip but are booked more often now. Ivan Smaghhe, Jennifer Cardini, Massimiliano Pagliara and nd_baumecker are a few examples to give you an idea. This Saturday resident Reza Athar is playing his first all-nighter. I’ve mentioned before that Reza’s taste in music is one of the most impressive I know and I can’t wait to see what he’ll do when he has the luxury of an extremely long set.

Saturday, Sunday: Kommune @ Cruquiusgilde

This one’s going to be insane. Cruquiusgilde has come to be my new favorite place to party and Kommune is hosting a weekender there, with a line-up that makes me drool all over my keyboard just writing about it. With the man behind successful label Something Happening Somewhere Nuno Dos Santos, Innervisions’ Aera, mango-loving Some Chemistry, Nathan Surreal and UNISOL on Saturday and Locked Groove from Life & Death, Quarion, Philogresz, rising star Olaf Stuut. (who’s doing a live set just like Satori), Reza Athar and David Cornelissen on Sunday there is no way you’re ever going to want to leave Cruquiusgilde this weekend. Sleep is overrated anyway.

Sunday: Mano Le Tough @ Woodstock69

Mano Le Tough blew my mind last year when he did an extended set in Woodstock69. In retrospect, it was one of the best days of my summer actually. I remember thinking that I hoped they would invite him again some time soon. My prayers have been answered because Mano will be back playing at my favorite beach club again this Sunday. He will be supported by Konstantin Sibold and Tsepo. Give me some sun, some Mano, a cold drink, bare feed and sand, and you’ve made me very happy.

Be sure to check out Planet Delsin in Studio 80 as well people. Enjoy the hangover and thank me later.
