Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Light House @ Canvasopde7e

Light House is one of the coolest clubbing concepts in Canvasopde7e. You can’t really go wrong with the view and massive bar any way. Add some DJs who play unexpected and interesting sets out of their comfort zone to that and you’ve got yourself a good night. This Friday Axel Boman is invited to push his musical boundaries. You might know him from his releases at Pampa Records or as Studio Barnhus label boss. I guarantee you, this will be fun.

Friday: Dynamic Reflection @ Closure

During the LET Recording release party I rediscovered how amazing Closure can be. Dynamic Reflection reflects intelligent, dancefloor-oriented techno in its purest form, capable of turning any venue upside down. It’s all about tracks that stand and techno that triggers in Closure on Friday. I need more of this in my life. Ostgut Ton’s Norman Nodge is playing. I heard he mentored Marcel Fengler and Marcel Dettmann, to give you an idea. Abstract Division, Tim Wolff and Stefan Vincent are on the bill as well.

Friday: The Great Escape @ Studio 80

Time to groove in Studio 80 Friday guys. It’s time for Detroit Swindle’s The Great Escape again. Dan Shake has a three hour set for us and he’s playing in our city for the first time. You might not have heard of him yet but he’s the first artist outside the Detroit crew to ever release on Moodymann’s label Mahogani Music. Have a listen to 3AM Jazz Club and you’ll understand. Of course Detroit Swindle will perform as well and in Studio 2 you can discover up and coming Bossoyo. Time to bust some moves and enjoy that hangover.

Saturday has a lot to offer as well. Make sure to check out Lente Kabinet: come early to check out Lena Willekes and have a little dance with me. And there’s a party at Closure where Paul Woolford is playing on Saturday night.
