About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: morph x The Gods Planet showcase @ Cruquiusgilde

I can’t say enough how much I love Cruquiusgilde. It’s probably my favorite venue out there at the moment because it’s the only place where I experienced, yes I’m just going to say it, a Trouw vibe. It’s a warehouse with an intimate vibe. I know this sounds like a contradiction but they’ve actually pulled it off. I suggest you go check it out for yourself on Friday during the morph x The Gods Planet showcase. Expect deep yet powerful techno.

Saturday: BEYOND @ Velsen Valley

This one kind of reminds me of Familiar Forest. It’s an open source manifestation that’s all about connecting with each other and becoming one. There is no main stage but only small area’s to discover, no time table and no backstage. This festival is a mind fuck that shows you reality and dares you to make new friends. Ruigoord , Vlam! Collective, BAUHAUS , Cirkus Klauterwerck, Edit Festival, Frank festival, Psy-Fi ,Soulfire, BeatuniQue Connection and Perception/PRCPTN are partners, so you know you are in for something good.

Saturday: Wicked Jazz Sounds Festival @ NDSM

I don’t go to Wicked Jazz Sounds in the Sugar Factory on Sundays enough. It’s actually one of my favorite parties. I love the jazzy funky sounds that are very danceable. The MC really adds something to the vibe instead of just being annoying. This year their first festival will take place at NDSM where they collaborated with the young jazz club concept Night Care. Expect a lovely mix of jazz, hip-hop, funk, soul, disco and latin spread over two stages.
