About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Mind @ Radion

Erol Alkan is one of the first artists that made me fall in love with electronic music. It’s save to say that he’s a pioneer. He doesn’t stick to one genre but his own identity always remains and that’s something I admire. The last time I heard him play must be four years ago so I’m quite excited. The fact that Hivern Disc Marc Piñol is playing as well alongside the fast growing Reza Athar makes this night even better.

Friday: Outsiders @ Canvasopde7e

Time for outcasts, obscurities and good music. After two sold out editions, Outsiders is back at Canvasopde7e. Benedikt Frey, a Robert Johnson resident is playing and this is his Dutch debut. He will be supported by local talent Pieter Jansen. Remember that amazing light installation in Trouw the final month and those awesome disco lights in De Natte Cel? Visuals will be provided by Children of the Light, so expect good stuff.

Friday: Prisma @ Studio 80

Let me just quote Patrice Bäumel: “One of the best albums I have heard in recent times is about to come out on Kompakt Records: Dave DK’s Val Maira. I’ve been using a few of the tracks in recent podcasts and DJ sets and they have always stood out – Dave’s attention to detail and his production skills are just mind-blowing. It’s also one of the few albums that bridge that difficult gap between dance floor and home listening. It’s not another hype, this to me is the real deal. Bravo!” Don’t think I have anything to add. See you in Studio 80.

Prisma

Sunday: Gerd Janson & Prins Thomas @ Woodstock69

Dancing to tunes of Gerd Janson and Prins Thomas with my bare feet in the sand at my favorite beach club. What more could a girl like me want? Maybe a little sunshine and a cold beer to top it all off. Even if there’s a chance for rain, these two guys will make you forget about that within seconds with their warm music. I’ll be there without a doubt. And just look how cute the artwork is.

This weekend is pretty fun. It’s pre-party G&T time and lovely music during Zauer Kitchen, Sekoia is hosting a night in Closure, Bonobo is performing in De Marktkantine and La Superba in Cruquisgilde will be one for the books.
