Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Frits Wentink album release party @ Radion

The name Frits Wentink doesn’t ring a bell? Maybe Felix Lenferink, Frederik Eisink, Urkelle or as one half of Will&Ink does. This guys has a lot of aliases. Confusing? Probably. Intriguing? Yep. A lot of electronic artists seem to release albums lately and this is a trend I like. It’s easier, and more difficult at the same time, to tell a complete story with an album than just an EP. Frits is celebrating the release of his new album in Radion on Friday. And there’s a Hitzone party (say hello to guilty pleasures) in the building as well.

Friday, Saturday, Sunday: Online Radio Festival @ Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ

Something a little different. For the first time in history the Online Radio Festival brings six leading online radio stations together to create a collective 30-hour broadcast with inspiring talks and sets live from the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ. With Berlin Community Radio, Boiler Room, Dublab, NTS, Red Light Radio and Stoom you’ve got yourself a guarantee for quality. Go check this out!

Sunday: The Going @ Studio 80

Okay guys, I was lame and couldn’t make it to the first edition, but I heard The Going was legendary. I was told the vibe was intimate, the music was spot on and there was an absinthe bar. What more could you want? Malawi’s new Sunday concept just might become as great as the Trouw op Zondag nights. Time will tell but the potential is there for sure. I’m intrigued enough to go check it out for myself this Sunday. How about you?

Be sure to check out this Wilde Renate night in Closure, I Love Vinyl in Canvasopde7e and Fade Blank in Cruquiusgilde as well.
