About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Personally I’m not really that interested in the royal family and I detest the color orange, but King’s Day is a nice excuse to party. Let me narrow your options down suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you party people should go to for your next royal hangover.

King’s Night – Sunday: XXX @ Closure

Not talking about porn here people, sorry to disappoint you. I can offer you an amazing party though. Did you know that my favorite disco minded duo SHMLSS recently started their own label called XXX? After inviting Prins Thomas for their release party they’ve now invited Tuff City Kids to play on King’s Night. This is a project from Gerd Janson and Lauer, for those of you who didn’t know. This just might become a legendary night. Trust me on this one.

King’s Night – Sunday: Get On Down @ Studio 80

G | O | D stands for being humble, to drop your attitude, to let go of your fear of other people, not to pretend to be someone you’re not: it’s about being yourself. Their mission is to bring quality house and techno for the queer-minded. For their King’s Night edition they invited two bad boys from Down Under as well as some local talent. Time to get on down with Zanzibar Chanel, David Vunk, Carlos Valdes & Lupe, Marsman and Martin Duvall!

King’s Day – Monday: Oranjebloesem @ IJkade

Holy shit. This lineup is insane. But seriously. If someone knows how to split yourself in three, so I can be at all stages at the same time, please contact me. DJ Koze, mastermind Max Cooper, ex Trouw resident Patrice Baumel, Efdemin, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, rising star Reza Athar, Daniel Avery, KiNK, Satori, Die Vögel, Atomnation boss Applescal, Some Chemistry (NMH) & Florinsz Janvier (Sekoia) and Arjuna Schiks are playing. But I think I’m most excited about Mathew Jonson and Minilogue’s b2b live set. Talking about a lineup that is worth your hangover! See you there! Oh and there’s an after party too.

King’s Day – Monday: These Guys @ NDSM

This year These Guys returns to the NDSM Treehouse for a King’s Day special. These Guys always give you quality and their lineup does not disappoint, to say the least. Aroy Dee, G-String, Interstellar Funk, Robert Bergman, Parrish Smith, Mattikk and DJ+ are playing. Add these artists to the raw interior of the location and you’ve got magic. Did I mention it’s free and they have an after party in Closure?

King’s Day after party – Monday: MyHouse @ Radion

Those of you who just can’t get enough and still have the energy to keep going after all this should check out this King’s Day after party in Radion. MyHouse has invited local artists that will definitely bring back your energy. Dekmantel Soundsystem, Mark Du Mosch and Interstellar Funk are worth the intensification of your hangover. Never stop dancing!
