About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Nick Höppner album release tour @ Radion

Ostgut Ton is one of those labels that almost everyone seems to love. And for good reasons. It equals dark music which is still sexy, and I love that. Nick Höppner is releasing his first album on Ostgut, and boy it’s good. It’s called Folk and is inspired by disco R&B, funk, soul and the most primary rituals of tribal drums. This Friday he’ll perform in Radion along side Tama Sumo, Interstellar Funk and David Cornelissen. See you on the dance floor.

Friday: Grounded Theory @ Closure

Closure just keeps on going with interesting nights. On Friday they invited Grounded Theory. To say that they’re big in Berlin is an understatement and now they’re coming to our town. One of my friends jokingly described their music as steam locomotive techno on acid. Founder Henning Baer, Milton Bradley and Blue Hour are performing alongside local rockstars Maarten Mittendorff and Jasper Wolff.

Saturday: Pixel @ Studio 80

Pixel used to be one of my favourite parties in Trouw. Studio 80 is their new intimate home-base and it fits well. This Saturday founder Jorn Liefdeshuis and Midland are playing b2b all night long. They did an all-nighter in Trouw two years ago and that was pretty legendary. Just listen to this recording. On Saturday they’ll perform twice as long which means twice the magic. See you then!

Be sure to have a look at this night in Closure which is curated by Tsepo, Konstrukt in Studio 80, Liefhebbers‘ two year anniversary and Planet Delsin in OT301 where Rabih Beaini is playing all night. You’ll thank me on Monday.
