New name, same concept. Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Saturday, Sunday: DGTL Festival @ NDSM
The festival season has officially opened and I’m going to celebrate with a prosecco brunch before I head over to DGTL. Let me just give you a few examples of artists on the bill this weekend: Mano Le Tough, Maceo Plex, The Drifter, CW/A, Mind Against, DJ Koze, Michael Mayer and Roman Flügel, John Talabot and Job Jobse, Patrice Bäumel, Extrawelt, Âme and Motor City Drum Ensemble. Hot damn. Let the fact that this is only a small part of the line-up sink in for a second.
Saturday: Circle @ AIR Amsterdam
If I’m honest with you, I don’t go to club AIR that much. However, this party just attracts me like a magnet. The reason for this? DVS1 is playing. Klockworks recently restocked the EP that Black Russian is on. I LOVE that track so I immediately ordered it. DVS1’s all-nighter in Trouw was pretty legendary so I would love to hear him play again. Juan Sanchez, Jean Pierre Enfant, Doka, Mr. Gibbs and Carlos Valdes are playing as well, which is no punishment either.
Sunday: Dekmantel @ North Sea Jazz Club
Dekmantel might be one of the only parties where I would dare to go to without checking the line-up first and still be confident it’s going to be good. Checking the line-up makes it more fun though because this Sunday Dekmantel has done it again. The quality line-up consists of I-F, Gesloten Cirkel, Traxx and Casper Tielrooij this time. Feel like busting a move on Sunday? This is where you want to be.
Be sure to check out Junction in Radion, the Clone label night and Knekelhuis/Red Light Radio take over at Studio 80 and Andy Hart in Canvasopde7e as well.
