The short series of shorts, Short & Sweet, hits Amsterdam again this week and runs until 21 April at Roest. Each night will feature eight short films and none will be longer than 20 minutes. Sounds perfect for those of us with short attention spans but with its stated aims to “educate, inspire and empower”, it shouldn’t be too frivolous either.
The exact programme is being kept well under wraps but the organiser of the Amsterdam series, Eveline Besters, explains why:
We would like to take our audience on a journey. Which will only be possible not knowing what to expect.
Some clues from Season 1
Expect a music video or two: last time audiences got to watch ‘Alive’ (Writer/Director: Josh Cole), the music video for Chase & Status that was shot on The Blackfeet Indian Reservation, Montana, US.
And Short & Sweet does love its animations. To share just a few; the last series screened ‘Raymond’ about a freaky human shuttlecock (by London team, BIF) and a family secret was unveiled during a photo session in ‘Family Portrait’ (Director/Writer: Joseph Pierce). And did we mention the DJs by Doetje Dansen? Well, it is at Roest, after all.
The first season grew in popularity pretty quickly, getting crowds of up to 150 people by the last screening, so don’t leave it too late to bag your spot. Be sure to leave a beanbag free for me. X
