Rio de Janeiro has Carnival, New Orleans celebrates Mardi Grass and here in Amsterdam we have King’s Day. It is without a doubt our country’s biggest event of the year. But what to do on this day? That’s always the question. We took some time to tip three activities worth checking out on this spectacular day. We don’t want you missing out on any festivities, as tomorrow at noon tickets go on sale for all the parties in town.
Oranjebloesem 2015
As a wise girl once said “I think orange is a freaking ugly colour, I’m sorry. I’ll be one of the haters wearing black. BUT I love this kind of blossoming orange!” That’s right, last year brought us the inauguration of a new, highly anticipated, left-field King’s Day festival in town: Oranjebloesem, featuring Tale Of Us and David August amongst others. This year, Next Monday’s Hangover and NGHTDVSN have stepped it up a notch. This means Oranjebloesem has grown into a three-stage adventure, featuring major league artists representing the deeper realms of house and techno music like DJ Koze, KiNK, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Mathew Jonson & Minilogue, Daniel Avery, Max Cooper and many more. Just have a look at the mind-blowing line-up beneath. Right? See you up front.
Kingsday Festival 2015
If underground dance music isn’t completely your thing, we recommend having a look at
Kingsday Festival in Amsterdam’s Olympic Stadium. The program will be a mix of leading international and national artists in the EDM game, with some additional house and techno stages here and there. Most prominent names on the bill for this one: Jack Ü (Skrillex & Diplo), Knife Party, Kygo, Diplo, Carnage, Robin Schulz, Joris Voorn, Yellow Claw and Bakermat amongst others. Expect big things from this one!
Rent a boat and go wild
The most classic thing to do on this day in Amsterdam, of course, is to rent a boat with all your friends and party through the canals of this beautiful city. Can’t go wrong with that. It could even be a nice way to transport yourself towards a party on the other side of the river. Share your beers, high five everybody on the other boats, don’t fall in the water.
Sharing is caring!
