About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

New name, same concept. Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover. I’m so sorry for giving you way too many options this week but there are just too many good parties this weekend, especially on Friday.

Friday: Outsiders @ Closure

If you didn’t check out new club Closure yet, this will be the perfect moment because Space Dimension Controller is playing. I just love his Resident Advisor biography; “Back through time with a mission of groove.” He will be supported by Call Super, Beesmunt Soundsystem and Awanto3. Time to party.

Friday: Pixel @ Studio 80

Pixel used to be held in Trouw (don’t get me started) but moved to Studio 80 now. I’m really curious to see how this lovely party will turn out in this new intimate setting. Pional, Jorn Liefdeshuis and Some Chemistry will provide tunes. Sounds good doesn’t it? You can win some guest list spots and a Pixel T-shirt for this one! Check our Facebook page for more info.

Friday: Klear @ De Marktkantine

Klear equals that smooth electronic music, Cyril Hahn style, that I secretly love to death. After already bringing Kaytranada and Maribou State to our little country, Klear now invited Julio Bashmore (who doesn’t know this tune), Bondax, MJ Cole and Eton Messy to celebrate their one year anniversary. You guys have an opportunity to win guest list spots for this one as well! Check our Facebook page!

Friday: Club Fest @ North Sea Jazz Club

Disco time! This Friday one of the most respected disco connoisseurs in the world Daniel Wang will play in one of my favourite venues. The North Sea Jazz club is intimate and has a great sound system. Daniel will be supported by FEST residents residents SHMLSS & HAARBAARBAAR who always make me smile.

Club Fest

Friday, Saturday: HYTE @ Elementenstraat

HYTE is taking the Dam by storm the next four weeks and damn, it’s going to be so good. Check out Ben Sims, Cosmin TRG, Sigha b2b Shifted, Answer Code Request (live), ItaloJohnson, Jean Pierre Enfant, Carlos Valdes and Interstellar Funk during the LET take over on the opening night or Maya Jane Coles, Jackmaster, Tom Trago, Job Jobse, Cinnaman and Tim Hoeben on Saturday.

Saturday: Horizon @ Canvasopde7e

I’ve discovered a lot of new music at Horizon parties in the past. Jennifer Cardini has become one of my personal favourites thanks to Horizon. Check out this legendary set she played in De Natte Cel in Trouw. She’ll be supported by Fairmont, Sigward and talented resident Reza Athar. Whether you are single, just fooling around, in a relationship or you don’t give a fuck about Valentine’s Day, this is where you want to be.

Sunday: De Raad van 11 @ De Marktkantine

This will be proper madness I tell you. Expect crazy people who celebrate carnival Amsterdam style. Artists such as Detroit Swindle, Sandrien, Boris Werner, Homework, Olivier Weiter and Patrice Bäumel will play. Oh and Technoviking, DJ Jean and Lexxxus will be there too.
