Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Spot On @ Radion

Rahaan just might be one of the best house and disco DJs out there if you ask me. Just listen to this mix and you’ll probably agree with me. Any chance I get to see him play I’ll gladly take. Tyree Cooper is bringing his classic Chicago house sound and Dutch DJ collective My House will support these guys. Tonight is one of those nights where something has to go epically wrong to not be amazing.

Saturday: Outsiders @ Canvasopde7e

You guys need to keep an eye on Outsiders. They know how to book the finest artists that’ll guarantee you quality music. They’ve invited Space Dimension Controller to play in the new club Closure in February for example. But first up: their edition this Saturday in Canvasopde7e. Cos/Mes from Japan, who’s known for giving you an electronic mixture of Balearic, house and cosmic jazz, is making his Dutch début. Reza Athar, Outsiders’ brand new resident, is playing as well. I’ve been watching Reza for a while now and I can honestly say that he is one of those artists with an exquisite and impressive taste in records. And all of this with a killer view. I say hell yeah.

Saturday: Subnight @ Radion

Radion could become the place to be even though it’s so damn far. If they keep on throwing parties like these I’ll have no choice but to cycle the distance. Subnight is one of the nights in Radion that really got my attention. With Sandrien playing at their first edition and Etapp Kyle playing this Saturday it’s kind of impossible for me to not be excited. Etapp Kyle has become one of my personal favourites after two mind blowing performances in Trouw and one during ADE in OT301. Just listen to Astra, I’ve truly come to love this dreamy techno. He’ll be accompanied by Albert van Abbe, Gal Tsadok-Hai and Vand for those who want to discover some upcoming talent. I’ll definitely be there.

You should have a look at The Great Escape (check out this trailer) and LIVE at the Ballroom in the lovely Studio 80 on Saturday and Sunday as well. Or check out new club Closure where there will be a Watergate showcase and Benny Rodrigues will play a 7-hour set.
