Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: Light House @ Canvasopde7e
Light House dares well known artists to push their own boundaries and play outside of their comfort zone. I’m a great supporter of stepping outside of comfort zones, so why not check out talented artists do it musically alongside the killer view of Canvas? This Friday DJ T. is up. He has had a leading role in the music industry for over 20 years, started the influential Groove Magazin and on top of that he owns the popular Get Physical music label as well. He’ll be supported by Kennedy. See you tomorrow?
Saturday: 24 Hour Party People @ Studio 80
Time to party till the end of time in Studio 80, starting this Saturday! Tom Demac easily could’ve gone on for hours and hours during ADE in Studio 80, Viers is making his Amsterdam début and Cinnaman and Chaiba will perform as well. Expect disco, funk and afro-beat from local talents in Studio 2 by artists such as Voldaan, Casey Jones, Somezuen and DJ Flux.
Saturday, Sunday: Tom Trago Weekender @ Trouw
I know it has become a cliché to say that Trouw is amazing and it will be missed deeply, but it’s simply true. I would recommend any one to at least try to make it there once before it closes. This weekender is a good option. I’ll be there on Sunday since I love Jamie XX, I saw him perform in Trouw a while back with Four Tet as well and that just blew me away. Chez Damier, Pépé Bradock, Young Marco, Elias Mazian, Berend Kirch and Tom Trago himself will be there too. Expect Jus’Ed, The Mole, Tom Trago again, Maxi Mill and Mark du Mosch the day before. Oh and the master mind behind Trouw, Olaf Boswijk, will do an all-nighter in de Verdieping.
If this isn’t enough for you, check out legendary Laurent Garnier with me in Trouw today or HIFI tomorrow in Trouw as well, Robert Henke in the classy and beautiful Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ, the 3 year anniversary of Slapfunk Records in Studio 80 or Palmbomen who’s doing a 7 hour set in OT301. God I love weekends.
