About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Zauer Kitchen Afterwork @ WGT

It’s been a while since I visited my favourite pre-party Zauer Kitchen. Something came up every edition and I had to miss out. This Friday I’ll make sure to be there again and I can’t wait. Those gin tonics with cucumber are waiting for me to start my Friday night early. Together with some good food, lovely people and quality music I couldn’t imagine a better way to celebrate the end of the week. Olaf Stuut, (rising Amsterdam talent who has been releasing some pretty cool stuff at morgen.am), BALT (this guy is one big intriguing mystery), Daniel Zuur (mastermind behind all this) and Josh Dupree will be playing tunes.

Saturday: Subnight @ Radion

I love trying new things as I get bored pretty easily. I didn’t experience the early days of Sub1990 but the first Subnight in Radion sounds positively interesting. Sub1990 attempts to complement the Amsterdam electronic music scene with audio and visual performances that will linger. Settled artists and ones that are on the verge of breakthrough will perform this Saturday: Sandrien, Blind Observatory, Gal Tsadok-Hai and Vand. I’m curious, how about you?

Sunday: Trouw op Zondag x Innervisions @ Trouw

Man man man. It seems as if every damn event in Trouw is going to be legendary these days. Especially the Sunday specials are mind-blowing, I’m going to be massively hungover at work literally every Monday for the rest of the month. This Sunday Innervisions is coming. Dixon (who was just voted number one DJ of the world in the RA Poll), Âme and Job Jobse (I LOVE how he plays New Order in his sets sometimes) will be playing upstairs. Alex from Tokyo and Lil’Tony will be performing at de Verdieping. My all time disco favourite Prins Thomas will play all night long in De Natte Cel, a special secret area with a killer vibe that is only opened on special occasions. Trust me, this is a place you want to experience before Trouw closes. Since this event is sold out I highly recommend to buy a bottle of whiskey to keep you warm in line, to make sure you don’t miss out.

This weekend is going to be fun as hell, check out Prunk Invites LEIGH D OLIVER, HOAX, THE LAST BLA BLA NIGHT, CARPE NOCTEM, and DSTRCT Warehouse, while you’re at it. Are you ready for your next Monday’s hangover? I know I am.
