Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: Ostgut Ton @ Trouw
I still remember the Dekmantel Ostgut Ton label night during ADE. It was the absolute perfect way to end a lovely week of madness. Ostgut Ton is one of my favourite labels. Ostgut means dark music but there’s always a sexy vibe to it as well. This Friday Trouw will be filled with an amazing list of artists. I guarantee that Marcel Dettmann, Steffi (who just released a new album), Anthony Parasole, Fiedel, Virginia, nd_baumecker, Boris AND Norman Nodg will blow you away. This night, like the entire December Trouw program, is sold out so if you want to get in come really early to get one of those door sale tickets.
Saturday: Time Warp @ Jaarbeurs Utrecht
I still smile when I think of the moment where I discovered Todd Terje in the small room during Time Warp in 2011. Thank god Utrecht is only a short train ride away. Although I would probably sit in a train for a lot more hours to get to Time Warp this Saturday if it had to come down to it. Just look at that line up! Let me just give you a small selection of those who are playing: Dj Tennis, Guti, Henrik Schwarz, Job Jobse, Maceo Plex, Maya Jane Coles, Pan-Pot and Ricardo Villalobos. Yes, I know, this is insane. And it’s only a small part of the entire line up. See you there!
Saturday: Confetteria @ A boat that picks you up behind the Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ
How can you say no to a party on a boat with 500 kilograms of confetti on board. That’s right, you can’t. This party is organized by the same people that organize the infamous Shoeless parties, to give you an idea of what you can expect. Mike Ravelli and Musclefarm (Eric de Man and Aron Friedman) will play. On the second deck collective Radio Noet-Noet will provide you with vulgar sweaty bongo inspired rhythms.
