Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: The Shell @ Studio 80
The Shell is always a good party to go to, because what happens at The Shell, stays there. This edition might just be the best one yet because of its killer line-up. Living legend Dimitri (if you didn’t check out this documentary about him yet, you should have a look), Eric De Man, Jorn Liefdeshuis and Malawi will perform. Take the lovely vibe of Studio 80, add this impressive selection of quality artists to this and you’ve got magic this Friday.
Saturday: ANONYMOUS @ Tolhuistuin
I don’t know about you guys but I love taking risks. If you’re anything like me and like to be surprised you should check out ANONYMOUS in the Tolhuistuin on Saturday. This new concept dares you to take a leap of faith and come party without a line-up or, apart from small hints, an indication of what you can expect. ANONYMOUS is a reaction and alternative to parties with big names without any excitement. I’m definitely intrigued, how about you?
Saturday: LET @ Radion
Their last Trouw edition was only three weeks ago, and this Saturday LET will be hosted in brand new venue Radion. Trouw is only a five minute cycle for me and Radion kind of feels like the end of the world. For LET I’m happy to cycle the distance though. Objekt, Vril, Alex.Do, Viktor Palmer and Jean Pierre Enfant will provide you with Techno and Function, Serge Clone and Carlos Valdes with house. See you there?
Sunday: RBMA Presents Schwarzmann Soirée @ Trouw
Henrik Schwarz is on fire. He has so many new cool projects that it’s almost impossible to keep track. I remember his performance with the Dutch Chamber Orchestra during ADE at the Concertgebouw as if it was yesterday. This Sunday he will provide us with a 6 hour laptop jam as Schwarzmann, his project with Frank Wiedemann. There will be special guest appearances by Bugge Wesseltoft, Etienne Jaumet, Kahil Elzabar, Johannes Brecht, Ben Westbeech and Robert Owens as well. Check out this boiler room set during ADE where he performs with Bugge and Dan Berglund to get in the mood. This will be one for the books, mark my words. I will write a special report about this one as well so stay tuned.
This weekend is filled with SO many amazing parties. I definitely recommend Red Ligt Radio’s 4th anniversary party at OT301, Trouw on Saturday where Boris Werner will play all night long and the Tape DJs will fill De Verdieping, Sounds Like Trouble (I love me some trouble) at De Marktkantine and SHMLSS at Disco Dolly as well. It will not be possible to not be hungover on Monday after this insane weekend.
