About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Thursday: New Music For Found Footage @ Trouw

Trouw has a lot more to offer than amazing parties. Did you know a special series of events has been going on there where cinema footage is combined with live electronic music? This Thursday the final edition of the series is going down so this is your last chance to check it out. Dubstep pioneer Shackleton (please note that I’m NOT referring to music that sounds as Skrilex here) will perform while Peter Delpeut’s Lyrisch Nitraat is shown. I had some classes about this film in my first year of college actually and I can tell you it’s pretty damn intriguing. It’s made out of clips from various silent films printed on decaying film stock which creates an abstract collage of images. Very curious about this evening!

Friday: Zauer Kitchen Afterwork @ Westergasterras

Quality music, tasty food, a fine crowd and killer gin-tonic’s that are served in glasses that look like fishbowls. What more could a girl like me want on a Friday night? That’s right, nothing. The best thing is that I don’t even have to wait until the clubs are finally busy, this event starts immediately after work and is the perfect pre-party. This edition Florinsz Janvier, Nygel Hearo and Daniel Zuur will perform. See you there homies.

Friday: Something Happening Somewhere Take Over @ Trouw

The Something Happening Somewhere nights in Trouw have always been one of my favourite parties. This will be the last edition of SoHaSo in Trouw and in my opinion the line-up is an impressive one that will most definitely create a night for the books. Sebastian Mullaert (aka Minilogue) will play b2b with Ulf Eriksson and Presk, Niels Schilder (aka Malbetrieb) and Tsepo will perform. On top of all this Aril Brikha and the man behind SoHaSo Nuno Dos Santos will perform b2b as well. Listen to their set from May last year, it’s magic.

While you’re at it, go check out the Drukpers weekender in Trouw where Job Jobse and DJ Tennis (just look at him eating that water melon ice-cream) among others will play and/or KIS., the celebration of Steve Rachmad’s birthday in Studio 80, as well. Happy Hangover people!
