About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: ARJUNA @ Chicago Social Club

Arjuna Schiks is a true local rockstar. He’s known to set dance floors on fire with his melodious music. On Friday he will have his first solo night ever, so this is a première guys. Don’t miss out on his six hour live set, it will be one for the books. Aaaand.. you have a chance to win two guest list spots for this event! Check out the Overdose.am Facebook wall for further instructions.

Friday: The Shell @ Studio 80

“What happens at The Shell, stays there.” When club nights have slogans like these you know you’ve come to the right party. Anything can happen. I love this kind of uncertainty. Bill Brewster, Musclefarm (Eric de Man and Aron Friedman), Victor Coral, Marcel Vogel and Mr. Mendel will provide tunes for this night full of surprises. Only open minded people are allowed in so I’ll definitely be there. How about you?

Friday, Saturday: VOLTT WAREHOUSE WEEKENDER @ Basisweg

Almost everyone I know has experienced at least one edition of the notorious Voltt Festival. This weekend Voltt’s going back to basics; in an old textile factory a lot of upcoming artists will take you on a journey starting with deep techno that will built up to a booming ending at 8 o’clock in the morning. With artists such as Bart Skils but also Par Grindvik, Trikk, Frits Wentink and MFD this is a perfect weekend to discover some new music.
