About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: WIE/KEND @ Studio/K

Time to celebrate the weekend again, for those that have recovered from ADE that is. I totally forgive you if you decide to chill for a weekend and skip partying, but just this once. Studio/K is a five minute walk from where I live but I would cycled a lot further for this one if it would come down to it. Primo Disco and Vriendje Van Ferry are playing. Vriendje Van Ferry’s Facebook posts are hilarious and extremely long, plus their music is pretty damn euphoric. Time to bust some disco moves on Friday!

Saturday: ACID TAB @ Studio 80

ADE reminded me of how amazing the vibe in Studio 80 can be. The amazing sound system and the intimacy created by the charming size of the club can create true magic. This Saturday it’s time for ACID TAB where TIN MAN, Alienata, Jean Pierre Enfant, Mark Vandemaat and Akemiö Grey will perform. Acid time! Let me finish off by quoting the party’s Facebook event: “Hear it, feel it, lick it.” Oh yeah.

Saturday: ItaloJohnson All Night Long @ Trouw

Only two months left until Trouw will no longer be with us, so I’ll go there as much as I can. ItaloJohnson is pure mystery. Even the best journalists (myself included, it’s crazy…) can’t quite figure out who they are. Rumours say that they’re from Berlin but even that’s uncertain. I do know that they play classic house that you will love, trust me. In De Verdieping Trouw resident Patrice Bäumel’s party Black Magic will bring you the intriguing Ivan Smagghe, Fairmont and Patrice himself. Can’t wait for Saturday!
