Amsterdam Dance Event is my favourite sleepless week of the year. I’ve been going there since I was 15 and will try to go there until the end of time. It is also a week of great dilemmas. 80 venues and over 2000 artists are participating. How the hell do you choose between all those amazing parties? That’s where I come in. Let me tell you where you party people should go to this ADE.
Dekmantel – Klockworks @ OT301
I can already tell you that this is going to be the highlight of the entire ADE. Chances are big that you’ll never see Ben Klock in such an intimate setting ever again. OT301 is one of my favourite places in Amsterdam; the walls are full of amazing graffiti and it’s one of the few places where it doesn’t matter how you dress and where you can just dance. Probably has something to do with the fact that in the early years OT301 used to be squatted. Dekmantel has invited Etapp Kyle too. I saw him play in Trouw two times now and every time he freaking blew me away. This event was sold out within seconds, obviously. But if you really want to you’ll convince someone to sell their ticket. I believe in you.
Audio Obscura presents: Dreams Don’t Sleep @ Het Concertgebouw
Last year’s ADE party at Het Concertgebouw was amazing. Trouw invited Hendrik Schwarz, who collaborated with the Dutch Chamber Orchestra, Nicolas Jaar and Dave Harrington performed as their live project Darkside for the first time in the Netherlands, and Trouw resident Patrice Bäumel gave a hypnotising live performance. The light show was just as impressive as the music. It’s going to be hard to top this. But Maceo Plex, Sasha, Danny Daze, Barnt, Hunter/Game, Eelke Kleijn, Miss Melera and Benjamin Alexander might just pull it off! See you there?
NGTDVSN ADE Special @ Amsterdam Roest
I had to miss Gabriel Ananda’s performance at the NGTDVSN night at last year’s ADE. I still listen to that set and every time I’m still bummed that I wasn’t there. But I’ve been given a second chance, Gabriel will play again this year! With none other than genius Max Cooper, Dominik Eulberg, Aril Brikha, Arjuna Schiks, Einmusik and Terry Toner accompanying him. This means nothing but quality music in Roest on Friday.
Next Monday’s Hangover @ De Marktkantine
The legendary Next Monday’s Hangover parties once started with this night life guide that was written by NMH resident Some Chemistry back in the days. For their ADE special the NMH guys have invited Pampa Records. DJ Koze, Robag Wruhme, Axel Boman, isolée and Die Vögel will create magical moments for you at brand new venue De Marktkantine. Apparently apes with pink sweaters and pink turkeys are the way to go these days. I’m down. ☾
