Amsterdam Dance Event is my favourite sleepless week of the year. I’ve been going there since I was 15 and will try to go there until the end of time. It is also a week of great dilemmas. 80 venues and over 2000 artists are participating. How the hell do you choose between all those amazing parties? That’s where I come in. Let me tell you where you party people should go to this ADE.
HYTE Warehouse ADE: Welcome To The Future @ Elementenstraat
Laurent Garnier. The man doesn’t need an introduction and it’s no surprise that he’ll be playing at the biggest electronic music conference and festival in the world. Yes, of course I’m talking about ADE here. If Laurent plays in the Netherlands, you don’t ask questions and just take that opportunity. And it’s definitely not annoying that he’ll be accompanied by MAETRIK, Recondite, Scan X and Nuno Dos Santos. The second room will be hosted by lovely music platform SEKOIA, which brings you Chymera, Tsepo, Florinsz Janvier and Dennis Williams. Can’t wait for this one.
TAPE // ADE Special @ Tolhuistuin
TAPE has put together an exquisite line-up for their ADE special in the Tolhuistuin: Funkinevil (Funkineven and Kyle Hall) are playing and this has only happened once before in the Netherlands, which by itself is enough reason for me to go. Detroit legend Marcellus Pittmann, who plays lovely house and techno that’s soaked in soul, and Dutch talent Mark Du Mosch are two more reasons. Tape Records Amsterdam is hosting a showcase as well. You can win tickets for this night by sending a private message to the TAPE Facebook page. Time. To. Party.
DGTL presents Life and Death ADE @ NDSM
It almost feels redundant to write about this party because it’s all everyone seems to talk about already. But I’m going to anyway because the line-up is amazing. I’ll be brief. Tobias., Tale of Us, Mind Against, Job Jobse, DJ Harvey and DJ Tennis. That’s all I have to say and that should be enough.
Dubfire:live HYBRID – ADE Exclusive Live Show World Premier @ Amsterdam Roest
A lot off artists kick of their new projects, whether it’s a tour or a new release, during ADE. Dubfire is one of those artists. He is premiering his new live show where he ‘reinvents the concert experience by seamlessly weaving together elements of 2D and 3D animation with live audio and lighting to explore the intersection of science and technology – of man and machine – and their resulting evolution and inevitable fusion.’ This sounds pretty ambitious. I’m excited to see how Dubfire is going to do this.
