Who likes to visit an urban forest where you can drink, dance and at the same time learn more about the possibilities to make the earth a little ‘greener’? I do! This weekend the aptly named organization Strawberry Earth connects the dots at their Strawberry Earth Fair at the Tolhuistuin. With two days of workshops, music, films and more they connect a lot of information about the worldwide sustainable industry. You can learn how to become a chicken farmer or buy a pair of TOMS. Because their programme is huge I made a careful selection.
Saturday
On day one I suggest you start with strolling around the beautifully Tolhuistuin and buy a sandwich at one of the many stands. Then get a quick massage at FRISZenBLISS before you join the talk show called The Future of Fashion at 16:00. Five women and one man working in the fashion industry will discuss, obviously, the (nearby) future of fashion and the possibilities to make it more ecological. After that check out futuristic products at the Design of the Future Expo which will kick-off at the fair. By now I think you might be ready for some wine and music. Be sure to join the stage when the talented band Koffie spices it up with their funky sound at 22:30!
Sunday
The folks of Strawberry Earth realize you didn’t just consume green juices last night, so they prepare a hangover breakfast for you from 11:30 to 13:00. After swallowing your power berries join the yoga class of the one and only Maxim Hartman and Tim den Besten, the inventor of quinoakutten. Time for some serious business, so join the workshop of Cityplot and learn how to become a herb professor at 14:30. After that sit back, relax and join the documentary marathon of Burt’s Buzz, IDFA heavyweight Into Eternity and the Dutch première of GMO OMG. With, of course, a bin of organic popcorn on your lap.
