Ólafur Arnalds magically closes Live At Amsterdamse Bos

The eccentric music of Icelandic Ólafur Arnalds sweeps into the dark humid air of the Amsterdamse Bos, where a surprisingly large amount of people have withstood the rain to see his intimate performance. It is already the second season of Live At Amsterdamse Bos, which draws an insider crowd that listens quietly with their eyes closed to his deep ambient electric pop. Tonight with special guest Lavinia Meijer, one of Amsterdam’s finest harpists, who plays the instrument with an intense concentration.

All perfect ingredients for an evening to fall in love with someone, or with the music.

Frenk Wiersma organised Live At Amsterdamse Bos together with Friendly Fire, and they’re proud to present such an outstanding producer, musician and composer. I couldn’t agree more, the setting in the forest was magical and the music vibrant and weeping, with Near Light being one of my favourite songs. Next to Ólafur’s music his sense of quirky humour undoubtedly stole the hearts of many visitors when he lead his audience through a typical Dutch summer night.

It certainly was a magical closing for a perfect date as I look forward to next season, which will hopefully bring us more whimsical nights as this one.
