Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow your options down by weekly suggesting the events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. So here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday, Saturday: Volkshotel. Open. @ Volkshotel
It’s FINALLY time for the Volkshotel to open its doors this weekend. God, I’ve missed Canvas op de 7e, although Doka was pretty awesome. Expect the entire building (including Canvas, Doka, Café de werkplaats and more than 15 hotel rooms to be filled with amazing expositions, hidden concerts, performances and literary works. The Volkshotel is working together with some pretty awesome organisations such as Subbacultcha, Verhaaltje voor de Dorst (which is so entertaining) and Theaterfestival Fringe.
Friday: MANO LE TOUGH PRESENTS MAEVE & METRO AREA @ Trouw
I saw Mano Le Tough only two weeks ago at Horizon in Woodstock ’69 and he absolutely put a spell on me, again. Can’t wait to see him again, only at my favourite club this time. He’ll be accompanied by Baikal (which makes me very happy), The Drifter, Metro Area and Reza Athar (who is making his Trouw debut and is one to watch). I’ll certainly be there. See you there?
Saturday: Imprint & Black Magic @ Trouw
One thing’s for sure: it’s a good weekend to be in Trouw this week. Two of my favourite concepts this week. Sandrien will bring us Svreca for Imprint. Patrice Bäumel will bring us Ivan Smagghe at the Verdieping for Black Magic – ideal if you’re into obscure and experimental music which is still very dancable. This is gonna be good people.
Sunday: THUISHAVEN OPENING @ new location
I’ve had some pretty amazing Sundays in the beginning of last summer at Thuishaven. Time to relive those. The location and line-up are still a secret but who doesn’t love a mystery? See you there, if the weather is nice that is.
Cancelled due to bad weather!
