Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Saturday: Het Kunstenaarsbal @ Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen
One day a year, seven galleries, over 50 artists, 20 performances and 15 DJs and bands. This Saturday an extraordinary event will take place in the Koninklijk Instituut voor de Tropen. You’ll have the chance to enjoy art in its broadest sense of the word (think theatre, painting, music, fashion, etcetera) and party in one of Amsterdam most beautiful buildings (that normally isn’t for partying at all). The program is awesome; I highly recommend you to check out Justin Samgar (who truly impressed me at Museumnacht with his poetry), Daniel Zuur, No Man’s Art Gallery, Some Chemistry and Isis.
Saturday: Horizon – Massimiliano Pagliara special @ Amstelhaven
Horizon is one of my new favourite parties. It’s one of the few parties where the music and audience are both exactly the way I like it; qualitative and beautiful. This is a somewhat exclusive edition where only 250 people are able to enjoy the 4,5 hour set of Massimiliano. To be able to attend this event you should be a member of this special Facebook group. This is because the guys from Horizon want to make this an intimate edition.
Sunday: De Zon 2014 @ De Oeverlanden
I know for a fact that this is gonna be awesome. All the ingredients for a perfect day are present; SUN, an amazing location with little beaches, men in Speedos (and Sietse Bakker wearing “lekker niks”), a fun extra stage with amateur DJs, you can ride a banana and the stages are named Isla Los Cocobonitos, Costa Del Ananos and Plaza Melonos Grandes. Even though the line-up remains secretos until Sunday, I’ll promise you, you won’t be disappointed.
Sunday: Trouw op zondag – Âme all night long @ Trouw
Trouw and Âme, is there a better combination? I don’t think so. Âme has been one of my favourite duos for quite some years now and they never disappoint me. I remember buying one of their mix CD’s when I was 16 years old. But I’m drifting off. You will able to admire Âme live and as DJ this night, which is pretty cool.
Damn, this is such a good week to party. I had some serious dilemma’s about what to write about. If you want some more options be sure to check out Tommorrow Is Now, Kid!, PARK AM SEE, THE CORE or ZEEZOUT AT THE BEACH! Enjoy the hangover bitches.
