Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: Patrice Bäumel All Night Long @ Trouw
Patrice Bäumel is an intriguing guy. I interviewed him a while back and I’m truly fascinated by his vision on music. He sees tradition as limitation and is all about breaking away from the past, into the future. He plays music for people that are looking for something more than mass euphoria. When artists get the chance to play long sets they are able to experiment, which seems perfect for Patrice. Can’t wait for Friday!
Saturday: BEATCLUB invites Berlin! @ BEATCLUB
Come to (surprise) BEATCLUB, the club that owns one of Amsterdam’s finest sound systems and listen to amazing Berlin based artists such as Joshua Jesse, Coss and Used. Joshua Jesse is awesome, trust me. Just listen to the remix Gabriel Ananda (hero) made of his track Changes. I. LOVE. IT. See you there?
Saturday: Something Happening Somewhere & Boris Werner birthday edition @ Trouw
This weekend is definitely a good weekend to spend in Trouw. It’s no secret that Boris Werner is an expert – I might even say legend – when it comes to marathon sets. He broke many records in Studio 80 at the Wipwap Werner Show. He will definitely rock his all night long birthday set this Saturday, I have no doubt about that. Happy birthday Boris! Apart from this you can check out one of my favourite labels Something Happening Somewhere where Culoe de Song (Innervisions, Johannesburg) and Tsepo will play some tunes.
