About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Thursday: White Rabbit @ Club Up

White Rabbit is one of the most fun and creative concepts in our town in my opinion. Each year they celebrate Holy Thursday in the Club Up to dance like it’s their last supper. Come join the family and listen to La Vondèl, Huminal, Robert Ferdinand and Henkst & Leanderthaler. Have a drink, bust some moves, do something slutty or fall in love at first sight, eat some midnight shoarma, and enjoy the hangover.

DGTL

Friday, Saturday: DGTL Festival @ NDSM

Gui Boratto, Coma, Ten Walls, Soul Clap, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Dixon, Âme (live and DJ), Mano le Tough, Baikal, Pan-Pot, Boris Brejcha, N’to, Solee, and Huxley are only a couple of artists that will play at DGTL this weekend. Need I say more? Didn’t think so. This is one of the first festivals of the season. Let’s celebrate spring!

Saturday: The Rest is Noise: James Holden Live @ Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ

James Holden is a legend so I see no need to introduce him. I’m sure everyone who’s into his music has at least seen him play one or twice. Chances that you’ve seen him perform live in a completely different setting than a club or festival are probably slimmer. This Saturday he’ll perform in one of the prettiest buildings in town; Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ. This event has been sold out for a long time. However, there’s always people trying to sell their tickets last minute because something came up. I highly recommend you try and get one. Be safe and be aware of scammers though. Hope to see you there!

Saturday, Sunday: Easter Weekender @ Trouw

Trouw marathons are always a good decision. The 24 hour permit was a true blessing if you ask me. Enter Trouw on a random moment somewhere between Saturday evening and Monday morning and surround yourself with a mixture of people that just entered, extremists that have been going strong for two days straight, and amazing music. Sunday is also the new gay club night Sandrien and Carlos Valdes are hosting as an alternative to the average Reguliersdwars-top 40 parties. Straights are welcome too, but only if they’re open minded.

alter ego

Sunday: Alter Ego @ Hotel de Goudfazant

This is a good one, trust me. This is a party where you’re asked to leave yourself at home for a change. When you come in you’ll be given a costume which will allow you to take on a new role; your alter ego. Listen to amazing music played by Acid Pauli, Satori, Charles Davos and Mees Dierdorp while you let your boundaries created by expectations and patterns at home. Because you’re semi-anonymous you can basically do whatever you want. Because these guys also organize the legendary Shoeless parties I can give you a quality guarantee. Just a little note: after 1 o’clock you can’t get in because of the costume dividing, so don’t be late and miss out.
