About the author
Born and raised in Amsterdam, lives to dance and dances to live on electronic music, has a small vinyl addiction, appreciates a little sarcasm now and then, thinks musicals are annoying and loves those moments where you lose track of time completely.

You might’ve noticed that there’s something different this week; I’m not Ridz. The last few years he’s been giving you the best suggestions that are worth your hangovers. Lately he’s been really busy with his music and organizing parties though, so that’s why I’ll be taking over from now on.

An introduction is probably in place so I’ll just give you some random facts about me; it happens quite often that people think I’m on drugs when I’m not, I was born and raised in Amsterdam, I have a diverse taste in music (house, techno, and a lot in between), I also have A LOT of guilty pleasures; R&B and ’90s music to name a few (but I won’t bother you with that, promise), and I like vodka.

I’ll do my very best to be as critical as Ridz and provide you only with the best of the best of the best of the best. Now let’s get down to party business.

Friday: De Nachtdivisie & SHMLSS present Night Fever with Rahaan @ Chicago Social Club

Disco disco disco disco disco disco disco disco disco disco disco. Did I mention that I really like disco? Whether it’s old school disco, nu-disco, future disco house, or a genre that doesn’t have a name yet, it makes me pretty damn euphoric every time I get to bust some disco moves. SHMLSS is one of my personal favourites (although I’m still a little disappointed they wouldn’t take their clothes off last summer when I interviewed them). Those of you who know Rahaan don’t need an introduction. Those of you who don’t, just listen to the set below and you’ll be convinced. See you in the Chicago Social Club!

Friday: BEATCLUB presents: Bram Fidder 4 HOUR XXL SET @ BEATCLUB

Personally I’m big fan of long sets because it gives artists the opportunity to explore and experiment. A set can become a intriguing and beautiful journey when there’s enough time to build up. I’m so excited about it, it even makes me an amateur poet as you can see. Long sets give the night a Berlin vibe as well because artists generally get a longer set time there. When this concept comes to live with wonder boy Bram Fidder and the amazing BEATCLUB sound system you know this can’t go wrong!

Saturday: Rush Hour Label Night @ Trouw

Rush Hour must be one of the most interesting labels out there at the moment. It’s kind of hard to fit their style into one genre. And I think that’s a great quality. All the artists that have released on Rush Hour have an amazing electronic groove in common though. When artists such as Beautiful Swimmers, Antal, Tako, Xosar, Kassem Mosse, Interstellar Funk, and Robert Bergman are all present in my favourite club, I’m definitely there!
