Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

Friday: Horizon – presents: Ewan Pearson x Mugwump x Redlight Records @ MC Theater

Horizon has been setting up some very cool things over the past months in Amsterdam. An uncompromising mix of cosmic, post-punk, left-field dark techno and house. This Friday’s edition features none other than Ewan Pearson, the acid house legend. Furthermore, the Belgian phenomenon Mugwump bringing their suitcases of left-field electronic dance music and resident to the show Reza Athar. Second area is hosted by Redlight Records and visuals are done by the almighty Heleen Blanken. Western Amsterdam, see you there.

Saturday: ONTROUW @ Trouw

“Unravel and reveal your identity. Use your body to narrate your intimate thoughts and dark wishes. Change your perspective and rethink what you hold as true. Let go of your surroundings and find your essence without context. Your attitude is even more important than the dress-code.” That’s about everything you need to know about this mysterious night. The line-up for Ontrouw will remain secret, as will all the things you put yourself up to on this night. Not sure if I’m extremely excited or scared to go to this one.

Saturday: Nachtdienst † WILLIAM KOUAM DJOKO @ Ruigoord

Finally, it’s time for a religious get together in Ruigoord. After a sold out edition with Arjuna Schiks last time, the people behind Nachtdienst continue the tradition of long lasting sets in an intimate setting. This time with one of the most intriguing DJs of Amsterdam, mister William Kouam Djoko. Next door, in the tent, expect the cosy Primo Disco & Friends show. I’ve heard these parties can tend to go on longer than you might think. Enjoy the hangover!
