Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: Mobilee Back To Back 2014 @ Toren
Mobilee records teams up with Bla Bla Music and Toren for the back to back tour kick-off in Amsterdam. Ray Okpara headlines to celebrate the release of his Back to Back album, and mobilee’s Anja Schneider and Sebo K join in to support his cause. Local support comes from Bla Bla head honcho Daniel Sanchez and mobilee and Bla Bla friend David Labeij.
Saturday: HiFi & Kann Dance Ultra Feat. Jon Hopkins @ Trouw
HiFi is the indie-house night at Trouw, hosted by Nuno Dos Santos and Patrice Bäumel. A place for amazing music, as they call it. This Friday they’ve invited none other than the amazing Jon Hopkins, in my opinion the most impressive producer of 2013, due to his recent masterpiece Immunity. On the other hand, downstairs, at De Verdieping, an exciting underground label is coming to town. Kann records, a music label founded in 2008 by Map.ache, Bender and Sevensol, based in Leipzig. For the occasion they’re bringing personal favourites Manamana, Lake People and Philipp Matalla. I’ll see you up front for sure, or in the back. Everywhere!
Sunday: Trouw op Zondag Curated by Todd Terje @ Trouw
Following a string of highly celebrated releases, leaning on everything from kitschy Euro-sounds to deep funk and Latin jazz, the established Todd Terje has made his mark within the dance music circuits around the world. This Saturday the phenomenon, known for his club hits Inspector Norse, Ragysh, Snooze for Love and many more, is back in Amsterdam! And for this special occasion he invited an all-star line-up to join the extravaganza; none other than Prins Thomas, Justin Vandervolgen, Vakula and Trouw boss Olaf Boswijk will be in the house on Sunday. Enjoy the Monday.
