Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: PRISMA w/ RONE, WORAKLS, N’TO & MORE @ Dhoem Dhaam Warehouse
Time to get futuristic, complex, artistic, idiosyncratic, triangular and deeply mysterious again! After his début at PRISMA in 2012, French superstar Rone is back for another live-show of epic proportions. He’s in good company this time, with his colleagues Worakls & N’to joining in and residents Some Chemistry & Hubert Kirchner completing this special warehouse edition of PRISMA.
Saturday: Revolutziya @ Beatclub
“Revolutziya calls on all people to come together by the power of, and love for music. In times where music is the universal language, we do not need words to communicate. In times where online presence interferes with reality, offline events are necessary. We have to realize our existence is not in the window, but in the room. When it is easier to comply with standards put by others, it’s time to be different for the desperate sake of being our selves.” Revolutionists for this one: Baikal, ME.N.U., Francesco Robustelli, Milan Meyberg, Malbetrieb, Nash, Miwell and Bramski. Go join the cause Amsterdam!
Saturday: Field Session @ Chicago Social Club
The Field Sessions is a series of events curated by Field Records, to broaden our shared musical vision and to promote innovative artists worth hearing. This weekend they’ve invited none other than Redshape (live). His music is not minimal, not maximal and always historically respecting Detroit’s vibe. Resident Advisor’s Pete Chambers once said that ‘the future of the past never sounded more contemporary’, which perfectly sums up Redshape’s musical vision. Dutch representation on this event consists of R-A-G and Tom Liem & Jocelyn Abell.
Saturday: Psychedelic Romance & Something Happening Somewhere @ Trouw
Trouw’s Psychedelic Romance invited A Made Up Sound to share the decks with resident Jean Pierre Enfant. But more importantly, Minilogue will be performing a live set at De Verdieping where Something is Happening Somewhere. The masters of hypnotic electronics, who are going to take a break in the near future, so this might be one the last you will get to see from them in a while. If you haven’t experienced a Minilogue show before, this is the time to do so. Support comes from your host Nuno dos Santos and his protégé Tsepo/Jan van der Lugt. See you downstairs. Enjoy the hangovers.
