Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.

NYE: I amtechno: NYE @ Dhoem Dhaam Warehouse

After a year of parties and celebrations, the only natural thing to do is to end the year in an explosive way. 2013 was a busy year for I amtechno with a serious amount of highlights; a sold-out Wilde Renate festival and events in Stockholm, Berlin and many other cities. With a strong techno line-up I amtechno ends and inaugurates the new year with a proper warehouse blow-out. Featuring some of the best artists Holland has to offer: Abstract Division, Juan Sanchez & Beesmunt Soundsystem, ME.NU x La Vondel x Some Chemistry, Rara Aves Soundsystem: HDN x NT89 and Ferro. This one is also dirt cheap compared to many other overprices NYE events.

NYE: ARRRGGGH Presents Man Overboord @ Roest

Man Overboard is the haven for sailors who want to go along with their mateys on New Years Eve. Nothing more, nothing less. Of course, including a lineup full of musical treasures. Pirates who sail at dawn include Homework (Backstage, Chicago Social Club), Lupe (GOD), Tettero and Jules de la Courgette (Cox, DOKA). In the den of thieves, the dirty sweat blown will be lead by Local Spastics (connoisseurs of rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle) and a DJ set from the famous duo Aux Raus. All pirates of the top shelf, with a penchant for rioting. Lastly, be sure to check out DJ duo Bert & Ert to complete this night of true piracy!

NYE: DEKMANTEL NYE 2013 @ MC Theater

“DJ Harvey’s influence in the dance world is all out of proportion to his own fame. Known to some as the bloke who played early hours at Ministry Of Sound and to others as the driving force behind the Black Cock re-edit label and Map of Africa, he’s a cult icon to the crowd who look back on the disco era as the birth of dance. He was also an early exponent of the Balearic sound, which has taken him from Ibiza to Venice Beach and beyond. Harvey expounds on sex, sleaze, and adult dance music.” Supporting the big man: Young Marco, William Kouam Djoko, Beesmunt Soundsystem, Casper Tielrooij, Cinema Royale, Sadar Bahar and Rahaan.

NYE & NYD: Trouwens @ Trouw

Trouwens is the inauguration of the last year of Trouw. Featuring an all-star line-up to fill both NYE and NYD: Dixon, Makam, Young Marco, Smallpeople, Motor City Drum Ensemble, Antal, Cinnaman & San Proper, Sandrien, Malawi Soundsystem, Jan van der Lugt, Elias Mazian, Melon, Nuno dos Santos, Patrice Bäumel and Roel & Boye. I think there is nothing to add to the description of this marathon. Quality music, no doorsale, no camera’s; good times.

NYD: Het Ultieme Sjonnie & Anita Verkleedfestijn XXL @ Westerunie

Finally, after all the pietities, countless shopping sprees and all the best wishes behind us, we dress up and go mental at Westerunie. That’s right, no more gourmet, only time to be yourself again, because the ultimate Sjonnie & Anita Dress XXL Fest is back. This year, they invited some very cool guests such as Extrawelt (live), Nick Curly, Nakadia, Andrea Oliva, Satori, Musclefarm, Milan Meyberg, ME.N.U. (live), Pascal Benjamin, Aike & Dickson and your host for the night Daniel Sanchez. As mentioned before, get your weirdest outfit out of the closet and go behave like a monkey. Enjoy the special hangover in January Amsterdam.
