Too many plans for the weekend? Let me narrow down your options by suggesting some events where you can meet, dance and drink with Amsterdam’s finest crowds. After all, ‘a hangover ain’t worth the pain if the party is lame’. Here’s where you weekend warriors should go to for next Monday’s hangover.
Friday: PRISMA w/ FAIRMONT, OLAF STUUT, MATTHEIS & MORE @ Studio 80
“PRISMA is futuristic, complex, artistic, idiosyncratic, triangular and deeply mysterious, just like you are. PRISMA is Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon being performed live by Trentemøller high on XTC he got from James Holden. PRISMA is basically music from the future. A must for any cognoscente of the fusing and vivacious electronica genre.”
For this last edition of 2013, PRISMA invited My Favorite Robot, Border Community, Traum and Beachcoma protagonist Fairmont, along with his ever-expanding live arsenal which now includes four analogue synthesizers, two drum machines, his trusty sampler and a slew of other toys – and not a laptop in sight! Supporting him are Dutch major league genre ambassadors Olaf Stuut, Mattheis, Some Chemistry, La Vondèl and Unisol for another night of emotional rollercoasters.
Saturday: COLORS & PROPER’S CULT FEAT. BEN UFO / KOWTON / CINNAMAN / ZIP / SAN PROPER @ Trouw
Trouw plays host to some cutting edge UK bass music, and will potentially create some serious mosh pits this Saturday. That’s right, Colors is back with enough power to deal some serious damage. Main man in the house is Ben UFO, who founded Hessle Audio with Ramadanman and Pangaea back in 2007. He’s one of the few DJs in the UK to make a name for himself solely as a DJ, without having entered the world of production. Support comes from Bristol’s Kowton and your host for the night Cinnaman. And as if that wasn’t enough, there’s still De Verdieping, downstairs. This time with Proper’s cult featuring none other than Panoramabar’s Zip and San Proper himself. Scary shit.
